      Dear Auntie
I am the Chairman of the Working Breeds Club of Mashonaland. Mashonaland is a province of Zimbabwe (in Africa). We are holding a Breed, Obedience and Dog Jumping Championship Show on the 17th. May 2009. I am busy starting the catalogue and wonder if we may have permission to use one or all of Cartoon # 259 Why with the dumbbell. It is so true to life and funny!! It will fit in perfectly with our Obedience and the Beginner and Novice Dogs. I train handlers on Sundays and the frustration of many owners when their dogs wont retrieve..............

Zimbabwe is going through a tough time at the moment and a lot of people and dogs have left the country. It wont be a big show, but I am trying to keep things going and your cartoon would add a lighter touch and give some smiles when there is not a lot to smile about. You might have heard about our inflation which has beaten all existing inflation records so far.....

I have a 2 year old Dobermann and fortunately she will retrieve anything metal, wood, plastic. She has a fantastic nose and can find 4 tiny articles in rough ground in seconds. Quaesta comes from a working line of Dobermanns and it shows!! She is a fairly spoilt young lady she sleeps on my bed (fortunately we have a king size bed) and has her own chair in the TV lounge. But she gives us an amazing amount of love and laughs she is a real hooligan!!

She has a weight problem (keeps having phantom pregnancies) and we have started cycling. Today we cycled past a park where there are zebra. She could not believe her eyes!! A striped horse!!! That moved!!!! The zebra must have been bored and cantered right next to us the length of the fence and she finally stopped barking at him but kept a close eye on him......

I love your cartoons and would really appreciate being able to use the cartoon with full acknowledgement to you of course!

      Best wishes,

      Geraldine
