I was a replacement for the 5th marine Division WW2.. My outfit was Fox
Company, 2nd battalion, 26th Marine regiment, 5th Marine Division..As
you know the 5th Division ww2 fought at Iwo Jima in 1945.. The 5th
Division then went back to Hawaii, regrouped and headed for Japan.. We
landed at Sasebo, Kyushu, Japan in 1945.. I was declared essential and
spent 17 months in Japan, although I had enough points to get home..
We had to dismantle and get rid of all of the "gear" at Fleet Landing,
Sasebo, Japan.. We had over 600 Japanese laborers under us..
ALWAYS HELP YOUR FELLOW MARINE, NO MATTER WHAT THE PROBLEM IS....

I found you in the Guest book.
Your message said you were in the Fifth
but didn't say if you participated in the
Iwo operation. Just in case you did I am
sending you another message with a poem
attached that I composed not long ago.
A good friend of mine by the
name of Wendell Brant maden the Guadalcanal,
Guam and Iwo invasions. His mom was one of
my grade school teachers. I was a 50'e era
Marine.
