Hi all;

I am curious re: people's experiences with brand new 8L35 movements.

Previously I have only had experience with a MM300, and this particular 8L35 was pretty much spot on. I think +3-5 sec a day. That to me was outstanding. This confirmed what I have read about the performance of this movement, and perhaps unfairly, set my expectations.

I recently picked up a new SBDX011 and this particular 8L35 is fast, about +25 seconds per day. I am assuming it will settle down, as on Day 1 (2 weeks ago), it was closer to +30 seconds per day. Not a big deal, as I am not an accuracy freak, but my question is, will this get better over time?

Any suggestions?
Thanks all......... Cheers. JC

p.s. Love this watch, so much so it has retired my Italians LOL

My SBDX011 runs +6 to +8 sec a day. When it needs it first service I'll have it regulated.

My MM is +3 sec a day. If your Auto Tuna doesn't settled down I would send it back to Seiko Japan and have them regulate it while it is still under warranty. Seiko specs the movement at +15 to -10 sec a day.

You did it eh? Got that big tumor, LOLOLOLOL.

God those are nice. I saw "I`m a lawyer" Harvey Levin dude wearing one of those and I got starry eyed, my jaw dropped. I know a GRAIL when I see one! I love the way that at a distance, the AR coating obscures the dial, and it just looks like a big black chunk on the wrist. CONGRATS!
Dont worry about the Italians, they are always capable of taking care of themselves, LOLOLOL. If they really need some love, send them to me, I love them long time, LOLOLOL.

Now on the timing. My experience, with one I owned in a MM, and the few I`ve seen on the bench, is that they WILL NOT break in that much. I`m sure this may start the whole controversy of "Break in", but ohh well. Anyways, these are good for only a couple of seconds break in, because they are well made to begine with. And they are very well set up positionally, so I dont think, and would hope not, that another position will cancel some of that out. I`m afraid it will need to be regulated if you desire better accuracy.

The good news is, like I mentioned, these are very well set up positionally, and need very little except a proper (time consuming) regulation to make them sing love songs. Search the forum for Zoodles posts about his MM, and you can see it is possible, happy.gif

Ohh I`m happy for you my old friend, you lucky dog, happy.gif

Merry Christmas Jong!

Best regards,
Randall
