Join the CFPM (Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine)by Buckwheat (no login)I'm really impressed with the views that alot of you expressed. The obsession with money and making tons of it seems to be top priority amongst the writers. What happened to professional care to our patients? Private practise is a business stemming from good service. Hospital foot care is not a business, its survival under budget cuts. Ultimately it all boils down to good service. It's too bad for those slamming Chiropody, its the sh**t heads that offer free shoes, discounts, defraud insurance companies, pay off for physician referrals, modification of off-the-shelf inserts and calling them orthotics, practititoners calling themselves Dr.s when they're not etc. There are good practitioners out there making fairly good money, those that aren't doing so good, well, change careers or seek a management company to improve your income. The OSC does have some issues, yet they're trying to get their act together via a meeting at the Michener and the introduction of new board members. I'm not convinced enough to join. But I am waiting to look for improvement. Another alternative is to join the CFPM, otherwise known as the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine. Less expensive and work gets done. The OSC should hold back on fancy ballroom conventions, dancing, expensive food and stress the importance of getting things done properly. Cut back on expenses such as an office on Mississauga Road where the property taxes are crazy, is the OSC well off enough to be on the same road as wealthy heart surgeons, ex-chiropractor/con artist/Peel pub owner, brain surgeons, Don Cherry? This in turn will lower your membership fees to attract more members and to retain those that join. Once you decrease those costs/expenses, I will then be convinced that the OSC will be doing something for the profession. Thoughts? Return to Index |
