all you say is correct.....so go into optometry ..get out of this profession if you can but you are probably so saddled with debt that you are stuck.
Its a terrible realization and everyone in that position has a right to be mad.
the whole profession was built on sand from the get go;
wrong system for the wrong country run by the wrong people for the wrong reasons.
