If the OHIP cap is lifted

If the cap on DPM's in Ontario is lifted and the guys are allowed to sell their OHIP numbers, their practises become $100k more valuable. This may be their retirement fund they are working for. Every year, just by demographics, one or two will leave the college. There are no young DPMs to replace them. How valuable is it for someone to buy a DPM practise with patients educated for more the a decade that OHIP partially covers their treatment and then change that when the new guy or gal replaces the old fella!

"Yes Mrs. Smith I'm licensed by the same College as 'Dr'Fella DPM and even though you are used to the way he trimmed your nails for the last couple of decades I'm going to have charge you $10 more per visit because I can't bill OHIP" ;-P

DPM practises have been purchased by non-DPMs before but, it's not common.

Keep this in the back of your mind whenever you hear anything about lifting the cap.
