Just the Facts Ed.by Anonymous (no login)Let's talk facts: 1. November 2003 - The OSC's lawyer, seemingly out of nowhere, presents to the OPMA a draft of the MOU - after the OSC "fell off the planet" (ie. was not heard from at all until that contact )following the College organized Mediation Meetings much earlier in May of that same year. 2. December 4, 2003 - After some to and fro on the details, the OSC President and OPMA President sign the MOU. The MOU expressly states that once the move to the Podiatry education model is enacted here in Ontario only those Michener students already in the education stream would be allowed to register to practice in Ontario. No more registration of Michener grads after that. If you doubt that and are a member of the OSC or OPMA - ask to see a signed copy from your Executive. Check the date too. 3. January 2004 - The College endorses the MOU signed by the OSC and OPMA. The College Council has 2 academic representatives sitting on it. They are both employees of the Michener Chiropody Program. So Ed. Let us assume for a minute that your assertion is correct about the OPMA rep. Just what was the BIG SECRET that you claim the OPMA rep told the Michener that they didn't already know??? If you were worried about antagonizing the Michener and you wanted to continue friendly and long lasting relations with them, then maybe the OSC shouldn't have signed the agreement that you presented to the OPMA. Which begs the question, just what kind of a two faced game were you wanting to play? Signing an agreement on one hand signalling the death knell for the Michener Chiropody Program and on the other hand wanting to avoid at all costs a strained, antagonistic and tense relationship with the Michener Chiropody Program. That just doesn't jive Ed. Can you see how someone might think that you weren't completely earnest about the MOU you signed which wanted to move to a podiatry model when you still wanted to stay buddy buddy with the Michener? Talk about political games Ed. You aren't and you weren't fooling anyone. Return to Index |
