Just in response to your post..I am by no means sticking up for Michener..however I did want to add that 1st and 2nd year students are placed in both hospital and private practice settings. Classmates of mine conveyed both positive and negative experiences, which is expected, based on where they ended up, which probably mimics what things are really like..some successes..some not.
