That might may be so.....
But Canada's not the United States! We're a sovereign nation with our own rules, laws and institutions. That was decided in 1812 and 1867 --you lost we won.
And no BMD, everyone likes us and everyone wants to come here for our free medicare. So no one will shoot missiles of mass destruction at us, therefore no need for BMD.
The United States although a friend and ally is a foreign country.
What happens in your country is your concern not ours and vice versa.
U.S podiatry as it exists in the States just doesn't fit into a socialized medical system such as Canada's. There is no willingness on the part of Federal Canadian law makers to accommodate the US model or establish a university based U.S.program .
It just doesn't fit . No good pretending it does. As for the statement : "Similar accrediting councils exist across North America for all the health care professions including medicine, dentistry, and so on"
No equivalent exists in Canada for podiatry that is recognized by the federal government of Canada . This is partially due to the unwillingness of the various provincial podiatry organizations to form a cohesive force that includes all Canadian podiatrists whether foreign or home trained. One province will recognize a certain country's qualification whilst another will not. This internecine and futile struggle is upheld by a few bi-polarizing individuals who purport to represent us but mostly were trained or originate from two countries namely the U.S. and U.K.
The consequential mess that has been created (literally by aliens) is for the federal government -
A huge "Turn Off"
As Canadians we politely demand that these two opposing foreign entities shut up and butt out! If not there will be a request made to serious, close and high positioned members of our federal government to start pulling the Canadian practising rights of any alien that causes our system ill.
Easier than it may first appear, believe you me!
