**HJK** I'm going to try and explain something.....

October 12 2001, 9:31 PM

You don't start a new post with **Intruder** or *HJK** if you are gonna start a new post, just title it normally.
Those thingy's (i don't know what you ppl want to call them anymore) are ment so that we don't have more new posts. you are supposed to put them under other ppl's posts (as the title of a "responce" )(see my message title) and that way ppl know that it's a new topic without cluttering up the board. YOu don't need to say it every time you post something new. understand? i'm not trying to be mean, but i get the feeling nobody ever explained it to you. so now you know, all better see?

This is off-topic from everything on this board, but it's very sweet and...

October 13 2001, 3:20 AM

I couldn't think of a better way to spread the word quicker. I got this in an email, and I think it's a great idea.

Let's pass this on, please.

Larry and Renee

Got this from a friend, think its a good idea.

Here is a little story -- Shirley's son is a firefighter in NYC
working
at the World Trade Center. Carolyn's fiance is also a firefighter
working at
the WTC. These men work 24 hour shifts. Carolyn's fiance is trained in
search and rescue so he is one of the firefighters going into the cracks
and
crevaces, looking for victims as he prays for survivors. Believe me when
I
tell you they have both seen horrors we could not even imagine. Take
your
worst nightmare and you still would not be able to imagine the horror.

I have been asking Shirley and Carolyn to ask these guys what they
need.
Something that is not publicized. But, as you know, they have all the
supplies they need for now so until they need more I will have to think
of
something else.

BUT I WANT TO DO SOMETHING.

On the news, they are saying that the firemen are getting discouraged

because they have not found anyone is more than a week. They leave out
the
part about the horrific conditions and sights they see, But through it
all,
they go on and on and on and on.

So here is my idea. Let's start a Card Writing Campaign. Go out to
your
local Hallmark or where ever it is you by your greeting cards. Buy a
card
that reflects what your feelings are about their heroic efforts and send
it
to them at:

NYC Fire Department
1 Chase Manhattan Plaza
New York, NY 10005

Just think how powerful this message can be. If all of you send this

e-mail to everyone you know, and they send it to everyone they know and
if
all of the people who get this note send a card, we can be the start of a

miracle. Kind of like when the Post Office delivers all the mail
addressed
to Santa to Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street.

Lets start our own miracle. Lets show these brave men how we feel
about
them. They need our love, support and encouragement

That is an GREAT idea!

and I, for one, am planning to go to my local Hallmark store today and get a card to send off. Those guys are doing so much without so much as a "good job" or a "thanks". Granted, this is their job. It's what they get paid to do but even so it's nice to hear a word of praise or gratitude every now and then.

Thanks for passing that along, Eurydice.

Great Idea!

October 14 2001, 10:55 AM

Speaking as a Paramedic, that is a great idea! Toronto sent a lot of such things down already that were hand delivered.

I was on stand-by to go down, but our service is soooo taxed right now, sending one person and/or vehicle would have been a tremendous strain on Toronto EMS. And if I had been on one of my week offs, I would have gone down voluntarily.

I don't know if anyone knows of this, but there are black ribbons you can wear. We have them on our uniforms over our heart. Just a thought, and the money goes towards the cause.

SpaceCowboy.
P.S. I'll be buying a card to send down for sure!!!
