HIIIYA!!!! I'm back...again

I'm afraid i had some very hecktic holidays.....the highlight......my first major car crash.....sitting in an outdoor hottub with some friends....at night.....while it was snowing......ummmm.....getting cable and therefor having been able to tape Xena episodes again!!!!......i think thats it for now

Details of the car crash.....twas newyears eve day, and two friends and I jummped into my car for the hour long drive to the ski resort where i have a season pass, paid for but needing my picture. The roads were clear, the drive there was nice, but i brought the wrong evelope with the wrong papers...since i'm not yet 18, i wasn't allowed and so backinto the car we got, myself at the wheel. Onto the highway we were, 100km/per hour... (60 mph? something like that) it was a divided highway...two lanes on each side, the forest beyond, and the concret bearier streatching along. 45 minutes later, just over a rise, there between the two lanes on my side, there was a christmas tree, right there, in the middle, with seconds to spare i jerked to the right (the same lane i was in) with traffic behind, but none up ahead, there cam a lound crunch as the side of the car (my side) hit the tree, we fishtailed along, for a moment or two, before flipping (a barrel roll) and hitting the barrier too! as the airbags went off and we were all jerked around, the car filled with smoke, and the screaming was loud. we finnally stopped turn sideways, blocking the inner lane, i looked out my window to see cars coming still. when finally they slowed and we were no longer in danger, we got out of the car (the faster the better) my door was stuck, it would only open 6 inches, so i kicked it until i could get out and see that my friends were alive. we all walked away, to the side of the road, where a kind person who'd stopped called 911. behind us had been driving each on their own, a fireman, a nurse and a peramidic. i went back to the car, no longer smoking, and took everything out, that wan't belonging (ie: jakets, purses, papers, etc.) the police came, and cleaned everything up. one friend who had been riding in the backseat, behind me, was placed on a strecher, myself and the other girl at her side, and she complined about the neckbrase and each of us cried. off the hospital we went, the friend in the passenger seat, a little bit sore, and a cut on her hand, but little more. the other, was fine but bruised on the stomac and cut on the shoulder from the seatbelt, and sore at the neck. myself...a cut on the hand, a bruised collerbone, other bruises and sore spots...and still painfull nose. home we got by 6:30 pm, and later a NYE party, we all did attend.

The car...it was totaled. a Neon, 2000. i do have some pictures, i will scan in later, and now, i'm driving a satern 2002.

A peramedic told off my mother, who was only worried about the car. we are all fine, the christmas tree was spun off the read, and we asume has since been removed all togeather.

Wow!

Sounds like a heck of a thing to go through! Man! I'm not sure I would have wanted to go to a party after all that. I'm just glad everyone was able to walk away from it, even if they were bruised a little. That's a heck of a lot better than not walking away at all!!

As for the car, I'm not surprised it was totaled. A wreck like that...I'm not sure if any car wouldn't have been totaled! How do you like your 2002 Saturn? I drive a '99 Saturn and I love mine!! It's a smooth ride. The heater heats up quickly and the AC cools it down just as fast. It gets great gas mileage and has a cool stereo system!

I was also in an accident on New Year's Eve but mine was extremely minor in comparison. Well, it was extremely minor in any case. I was at a Taco Bell just down the street from my Saturn dealership (where I was going for an oil change [I have the maintenance agreement]). My son and I were having a late lunch. It was almost 3 (when my appointment was) so we went out to the car and backed out of the space. There were people waiting to cross the lot to their car so I stopped and let them cross. I don't know what made me look to my right but I did and saw this big ol' truck rearend coming straight for me. I couldn't find the horn in time to make them stop or let them know I was right behind them. The truck wasn't going fast and not a lot of damage occured to the car (it's still very drivable). When I take it to get it fixed though, I'm going to lose it for three days! Luckily, I will be given a rental car for the time that it's in the shop. Anyway, the lady driving the truck got out and seemed mad at me, although she was the one at fault. Neither of us yelled at the other though. She asked me where I was. Now, I can be a very sarcastic person when I want to be but I know when I should rein that in. I'm thinking, "Duh! I was right behind you! Why else would you have hit me!" but I didn't say that. I just explained what I did. We exchanged names, insurance info and phone numbers. She said that when I got an estimate to call her insurance company with it. I told her I was on my way to my dealership to get an oil change and could get one then. I had an estimate less than an hour later. For such minor damage I can't believe it's going to cost so much to fix (over $1000)! The thing I'm glad about is that I don't have to pay for it! The other thing I'm really glad about is that no one got hurt in the accident. Not even a bruise or bump anywhere (and believe me I thoroughly checked my son for ANY type of bruise or scratch!) My son was even smiling and giggling from the back seat when the lady looked in on him.

Well, I'm glad you're OK (and I'm glad your friends are OK). Take it easy!
