For those who don't remember, the YHU used to be run by three esteemed Chancellors: Aura, Euterpe, and Thalia. When Aura disappeared on her Wisdom Quest, Tern was selected to be the new Chancellor to keep to the triumvirate format. When it was decided that the YHU would be rebuilt, I sent out the four fastest messengers I could find to these Chancellors in the hopes that they might be willing to come back.
Of the four Chancellors, I heard back from three.
Of the three, two of them were too busy with their own Wisdom Quests to return at this time to active Chancellorship.
One is willing to come back, and has been lurking and watching for several weeks. She will make herself known at the Opening Ceremony of the YHU on May 23.
Thus it appears that we have two spots open for Chancellorship. The mysterious returning Chancellor is now accepting applications to these positons, but She will have the final pick of who is to be our two new Chancellors.
Please send your application to YHUChancellors at yahoo dot com, and be sure to include why you think you would be suitable for the positon as well as any improvements you think the Academy needs. (Bribes are also accepted ^_~)
In the interest of fairness and trying to stay within the logical and reasonable boundaries of the time period, the Chancellors will also have final decision on the cadets' powers and pets, and will take a look at the cadets' bios to make sure everything's copasetic. Characters with extreme or unreasonable powers and pets will be asked to modify them.
Chancellor duties include setting rules and boundaries, settling disputes, and making final decisions in general. Chancellors also have the responsibility of overseeing the board, and enforcing rules and disciplines, including issuing warnings and banning flamers or parties that have intentions of causing disharmony and starting fights. Chancellors must be able to work as a team, compromise, and maintain a sense of fairness for the populace.
Please keep in mind that this position will take a lot of time and effort, as well as a familiarity with the movie/episodes/ffs2. You will need to have close access to the internet and be able to check the Forum and your email very frequently.
You have one week. The deadline for applications is May 9th, and the new Chancellors will be coronated during the Opening Ceremony on May 23.

I wish that all would have liked to have come back but I think it's great that we will have one of them back. I'm not going to beg you to find out who it is before the 23rd but I won't deny that I am curious.
I also would like to nominate you to go for a Chancellor position. You've done so much for this site already. Don't stop!
Admittedly, I wouldn't mind the glory and perks that would come from being a chancellor, but, on the other side of the dinar, I don't really have the time to put in all the work that would come from being a chancellor. So, I will leave applying for the position to those who will have the time to put in.

w00t!! I'll be sending an application ASAP! "ASAP" really meaning on the 9th at 11:59 in the evening, because... Hehe, you guys know me.
No! NO! I shall not procrastinate, because procrastinator and chancellor just don't work together. They rhyme, but... Gah. Yeah. I'll send it in ASAP.

Celest listened to everything Bryn had to say. After all, it was far better than going to her room and pretending to study because she had designated this time as her study time Couldn't be lax on herself. But copasetic? What on earth did that mean? And why did Bryn use that word? Did it hold the key for unlocking the answers to the test? Neila seemed to nod in agreement about this and she had made a perfect score. Yes, copasetic did mean "answers to weekly test" but in what language?
Making a dash to the library (it always seems as though Celest is dashing somewhere. She needs to join the track team.) she opened up a book until she found the word. Unfortunately, it was a book of recent speeches and the word was in the same speech Bryn had just gave. Wasn't too helpful. So she looked around for the dictionary to open. Unfortunate for her, dictionaries wouldn't be invented for quite some time so no luck there. She had to figure out the answer to the test. She had to.
Jason was polishing his crown when Celest startled him. "Celest! I didn't see you. I was simply uh...writing poetry," he said suddenly to hide the fact about his polishing. If people knew the prince was polishing his own crown, heads would roll.
"Do you know what copasetic means?" Celest asked, determined to get an answer. Besides, she knew he polished his crown at least once a day and twice on Saturday. It wasn't a secret anymore. Everyone knew.
"I have no idea. Maybe it means some sort of food."
"Good idea. I'll check the mess hall."
Celest made yet another mad dash to the mess hall and began to look around. There wasn't anything copasetic in there except for Iolaus's sword. Him and Jason - materialism would get them yet. She probably should take his sword to him but he would probably realize it was missing later.
Speaking of that, Iolaus walked in quickly and picked up his sword as though Celest was not there. "Oh sword, how could I have forgotten you? What would the girls think of a guy with no sword? Or worse - I would have to go back to using my old short sword."
"Ahem," Celest said, sorry to break up the touching moment between a man and his weapon.
"What?"
"Do you have any idea what copasetic means?"
"Type of music. Of course."
"Music. Music room. Yes yes. Bryn would hide the answers there." Enter yet another dash. A faster dash. A dash that people would remember til the end of all dashes. A dash to end all dashes. A - on with the story.
There was strange noise coming out from the music room. Apparantly Herc was unable to sleep and decided that it would be a good time to play his organ. He usually only played it when he was stressed or it was late at night - his two favorite times.
"Herc, have you seen copasetic in here?"
He continued to play his organ.
"Herc - copasetic. Meaning. Don't have all night"
Herc continued to play.
Celest grabbed his hands and forced him to stop playing on his organ. He almost started to cry because he was so close to finishing his work. The stress was almost all gone.
"Copasetic. I need the answers to the test!"
"Copasetic is not an answer to a test. It's a way of life."
"By the Gods, has everyone gone crazy? Can't you people understand that copasetic is the answer to the test? Stop playing with your crowns, swords, organs, whatever it is that is taking you away from your test. Help me pass and maybe I can help you get an okay grade."
Herc sighed and fell down upon the floor into a deep sleep like what usually happened after an organ session. Celest had nothing to do now but to leave the music hall and head back to her room. No one could help her now. She was doomed to fail the test.
But then a thought dawned on her as well as the sun. Bryn wasn't telling her about the test - she was talking about new chancellors. Copasetic was the answer to the chancellor nominations. Now it all made sense. A copasetic chancellor - one who accepts bribes, gets to live in the mansion, and fuss at the cadets who ran with sheep shears. Ah. Copasetic. Sheep shears. Crowns, swords, and organs. Her last fleeting thoughts as she settled in for bed. It had been a good night.
On the more serious note, consult your dictionary if you ever run across a word you don't know. It helps the community.
And also, good luck to everyone running. Whoever wins, let's get the ball rolling on lifting that ban of running with sheep shears. That too would help the community. And I would be able to cut figures from parchment instead of having to take notes on it.

cracks up laughing Celest, you... are frigging amazing. I just about laughed my head off. ^_^ And - interesting point of information - the origin of the word "copacetic" is unknown. So it very well could have been used in Ancient Greece ^_~
And yes, Neila, I'm turning in an application too ^_^ and mine will be in much earlier than Gorax's (but only because I was working on it instead of the scrolls that are due on Feducious' desk in eight hours ^_~)

to be a chancellor, but just like Neila, I feel as if I would not live up to the everpresent need to be around and all the other things like that!
I could volunteer to be the Academy artist, though. Something like that. Because I have been enjoying what I have been doing for this place. And it's also given me a reason to start a project and finish it, too.
Good luck to all!

I was bored last night and it was either write something entertaining or write about Whitman. Sooooo...needless to say Whitman was not done. And I still have no idea what the meaning of the word copasetic means. I was supposed to look it up but I didn't. I'll just assume it really is the meaning to the answers of the test.
Speaking of which, if I were to say oh "borrow" the test from someone else, that wouldn't be cheating right because I would be giving it back?
