I am thinking of browning them and cooking them in cream of mushroom soup as I cook rabbit with a sliced jalapeno, onion, and glaric clove in the cast iron.

I think squirrel benefits from any kind of slow cooking/longer cook time. So, after browning the tree rat(s) in butter and garlic, add some diced tomatoes and whatever veggies you like, add a little merlot to taste, bring to a sizzle - then reduce to low, cover the pan and simmer for at least 25 minutes. The meat will then fall off the bone. I like it served over rice.

That looks great Steve!! Did they fall prey to your pistola?

that was a fine little gun you had there. I keep thinking how cool it would be to have a marauder trigger group fit to the action. When I was shooting your pistol @ the spinners, I was just missing by a hair here and there.

And I agree with you re: P'Rod trigger group. It hasn't happened yet, but I suspect it will at some point.

Take care Dutch

Dutch...that's not a squirrel you're holding....

My mom used to just fry them up like chicken, crust and all. Made some very good brown gravy. They had to be young, or you'd be chewing all night. It was the oven for the old guys. Or, sometimes we'd slice and dice up the meat and make BBQ out of the old guys. Worked well for the bigger rabbits too. No matter how tough they were...properly chopped, they chewed up easy and went down smooth!
