My fathera is trying to track down any surviving members of the second battalion seaforth highlanders D company who crossed the rhine on 23 of march 1945. At a place called rees closed to wesel. As he is trying to confirm an action which took place at two farm houses on the single track road leading from the river. During which he was the remaining active member of the rear guard platoon. He was left alone in the dug out with a bren gun. To protect twelve injured comrades who were in a cow shed next to the second farmhouse near a water tank. the first farm house from the river was occupied by german paratroopers. He shot a german officer who emmerged from the farm house. The remainder of the german soldiers fled accross open country when confronted by bren gun fire. This action was rewarded with a medal to the wrong person.
