Response to Phantom Question

I checked my email files, and found this comment on the Tamiya raised panel areas from back in 2003. I don't recall wheer I copied this from, probably from the old Model User Group area. This was part of a string of messages on the Tamiya Phantom, and apperas to have been the agreed upon answer. It does match up with some other comments in this thread regarding battle damage repair and how it should look,

"The "Battle Damage" patches aren't really BDR (it's become a modeling urban legend that has been disproved by Phantom
Phanatics), but Tamiya did mold raised panels on various points around the fuselage, some are reinforcement plates, some are
simply raised areas. In either case, they wouldn't be present on an operational F-4 in the late 1960s/early 1970s (which Tamiya
represents with its unslatted elevons in the F-4E kit). Here's a rather poor picture of some of them:

You will need to sand them all off, with the worst being on the side of the metallic portions of the tail.

Have fun modeling!
