Response to MER on F/A 18 A hornets

However, it is currently known as the BRU-41 IMER (Improved Multiple Ejector Rack).

Phyically, it is the exact same MER as used by the F-4 Phantom. However, it was upgraded with new internal wiring and has different sway brace pads. In scale form, the sway brace pads would be the only thing worth adding.

It is only cleared to carry LUU-2 Flares, MK-76 25lb practice bombs and LGTR's (Laser Guided Training Rounds).

The F/A-18 is also cleared to carry the BRU-42 ITER (Improved Triple Ejector Rack). ADM-141 TALD (or ITALD) is/was the only item cleared for use on the BRU-42.

While the F/A-18 can physically carry HE MK 80 series bombs on the -41 or -42, they are not operationally cleared to do so.

The photos you have seen were of the Hornet during its testing career before it entered operational service. If you wanted to depict an aircraft from that time frame, bombs would be correct. If you want to depict an aircraft from current operations, practice munitions like those I mentioned above are all that you can put on them.

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps! - Eleanor Roosevelt
