Bondo Industries Weirdness Works Division employees are in the final stages of building ze beeg Black Jet, specifically decaling. The decals are well-printed and of decent resolution but VERY thin (think MicroScale/SuperScale, or thinner)but they come loose from the sheet rather quickly, and don't have to be "forced" like some other brands. Extreme care is called for while sliding and adjusting positions, or they'll fold under, etc. or rip and are VERY DIFFICULT to "unravel" even when I used the "water-puddling" technique that has been fairly successful with other brand decals. Once down, even semi-permanently, they strongly resist moving around (even when an edge is lifted with an Xacto knife and water puddled under, so have your alignment "ducks" in a row before sliding 'em off the sheet. BTW, they lay down so well that I only used Solvaset on one or two.

The PRC model companies--note that I didn't use the (apparently, for some) politically incorrect modifying, long-used, military acronym for which I'm noted..."C____M"; I'm informed (email) by none other than a certain recently retired USMC lurker (no, not you HS "regulars" like Don and Gunner Mike!)that said acronym is hurtful to the sensibilities of some readers (and, apparently, one noted entrepreneur of Asian descent); guess this 73 year-old needs an appointment with the HS chaplain happy.gif --really need to allow a westerner, preferrably an American familiar with the subject, to proof the decal sheets:

The tail numbers all start, of course, with what should be a small "81", that is, the year the bird was funded. Trumpeter's (I assume Asian) layout people instead have used a "B", as in "B1". From a foot away, it takes a sharp eye to see that it's not an 8, but nevertheless a strange thing to screw up......

Further, on the nice, three-view, color markings placement sheet, the star in the U.S. national insignia is pictured upside down on the left wing and in the planview (on the right fuselage location); a nitnoy for knowledgeable American modelers, of course, but an unknowing foreign modeler might take the guide as gospel....

Perhaps this long-retired Big Blue tech writer is too used to proofing. happy.gif
