wondering what would be my best option for a 1/48 scale kit. It was a F-18A Plus but will be happy with an F-18A. Hobby Boss, Academy? Did Hasegawa do an A? Any help would be appreciated. Ease of build, and accuracy.
Thanks for any help fellas
Brandon

as the WP set does not include F/A-18A vetical tails. Also note that WP's replacement nose leave a major step at the forward fuselage joint, due to their typical resin shrinkage.
I'd pass on the Copy-Boss kit, as it has some major problems. Hasegawa is the way to go for any 48th Hornet.
If you want a better APX-111 nose for a late F/A-18A, get the one that MAW decals makes.
Also note F/A-18A/B vertical tails (with updated structure) will be availible soon.

Don't forget, Testors offers a decent A model Hornet with the parts for a C. Detail in the landing gear bays is very......basic and the cockpit is mangled by ejector pin marks, the bang seat looks like a lawn chair, brittle decals (USN or CAF!) and canopies come usually cracked or shattered completely! However, on the up-side, the panel lines are recessed, there is a resin replacment cockpit, the landing gear looks about 82% accurate to the real things, it's got weapons and lots of room for the D-I-Y detailer!!
Mmmm...better get the Hasegawa offering just to be safe!!
they pale in comparison. Given the fact the vertical F-18A/B tails are wrong, intakes totally mishapen, and crude canopy design, why settle, especially when the retails are near the same?
It should also be noted, having built a few Hasegawa Legacy Hornets and 90% of the CopyBoss kit; Hasegawa is a easier build with less fuss and hang ups. I actually thought it was going to be an easier build than the Hasegawa kit, but that just did not turn out to be the case.
