I thought all the Buckeyes . . .

July 1 2009, 10:04 AM

. . . were retired. Is this a special flight? I sure hope Bob considers doing his Buckeye sheets in 1/72 scale also, so we'll have something to put on the old Matchbox/new Revell kits.

Check out the "N" number on the tail of the T-2.

"The fate of unborn millions may now depend, under God, upon the conduct and courage of this army. Our country's honor calls upon us for vigorous and manly exertion, and if we shamefully fail, we will become infamous to the whole world."

Yeah it looks like

July 1 2009, 11:07 AM

the FAA has assigned at least 15 N Numbers to T-2's. I wish the picture was a little bigger so i could make out the number.

Yes that

July 1 2009, 4:18 PM

is a T-2B built in 1968 belonging to a guy in Wyoming. I remember back in 1979 when I went to work for Beech Aerospace Services we still had quite a few T-28C's and Buckeyes around as we brought in the T-34C's.

They are not all retired yet, but close.

July 4 2009, 1:46 AM

They still fly some down at Pensacola. We are sending T-45s to replace many of them but I think they still use the T-2 for spin training. That looks like an old Beeville plane.

Nice photo!!

Yeah, I hope I have the good opportunity to snag a 1/48 T-2 Buckeye from either TwoBobs or Collect-Aire soon. I suggested a Buckeye in a long list of badly needed kits to Revell. They just smiled, patted me on the head and offered up a rubberband powered wood airplane again. I don't think they took me seriously.....this is not good!

Anyway, very nice shot of the T-2 in flight with the Hornet!

Two also on "active" duty at NAS Pax River...

July 6 2009, 2:14 PM

VX-20 operates two former Wing Six (NAS Pensacola) T-2C for use as chase aircraft for the up coming P-8 program.
"The Bobs" are possibly doing decals for these at some point ???
