F-16I question

I recently purchased the CMK F-16I conversion (1/48 scale) to use with a Hasegawa F-16D. Does the "I" have a P/W Engine with large mouth intake or the smaller intake?

thanks in advance for the assistance.

Wayne

F-16I Airframe Configuration

July 3 2009, 7:43 PM

The SUFA has the NSI/Small Intake, though the upper side RAM-AIR ducts are faired over. Also note that the SUFA has a wider NLG wheel assembly, wider NLG fork (which also accounts for the bulge down the intake) and totally different inner NLG door structure; none of which are inlcuded or mentioned on the CMK conversion.

The engine configuation is a Prat-229, with CF feathers.

makes life all the more interesting

Thanks Mike, your input just makes it all the more interestng. I am doubtful that either the Hasegawa Sufa or the Kentec kit will capture the NGS and door.
Guess it just means more research and more thinking about the best way to do it. Beginning to look like the purchase of one of the newer F-16I kits might be in order, or perhaps waiting until Tamiya does a 2 seater.

Irsa got the closest to an Actual F-16I

with their "later" (the firs release had a lot of issues) F-16I conversion; not to mention it's the most complete. They got the faired over intake ducts, wider NLG wheel assembly, bulge in the inlet, and correct inner NLG door, but still missed the wider NLG strut. Most of the Sufa details are pretty accurate, but not very cleanly mastered or cast. The shapes pretty good and more accurately done than CMK.

Between the two Sufa kits Hasegawa and Kinetic; Hasegawa is a lot more accurate in the antennas, CFTs, and Spine shapes. Though Hasegawa's cockpit is quite weak compared, The Kinetic pit is too shallow and the seats are under scaled. Then there's the major issue with the Kinetic Nose profile and soft but heavy surface detail.

If you can get a hold of the Isra "later" Sufa conversion, that would be the best way to go.
