I hope they get a little better organized so these issues don't occur again. Hopefully you get another chance next year or something closer. I remember watching the Vulcan detachment at Offutt AFB back during my childhood. Fond memories of one of my favorite military aircraft. I remember one day I was outside and I heard the noise before I spotted a B-52 with two Vulcans in Vee formation fly over about 2000 feet AGL. And watching the Vulcans at the airshows doing maneuvers that mimicked a fighter jet at times was impressive. And the sound it made during takeoff....

...August 23 -25, just down the road from me here in the UK, so we'll have to wait and see.
On the positive side; 'Sally B', the last remaining airworthy B-17 Flying Fortress in the UK, will also be at the festival, having been out of action for over a year with engine issues. Not quite the same as seeing a Vulcan, but some compensation nevertheless (and I haven't seen her since the mid-80's!).

....of the Vulcan was at a RIAT show at Fairford. The Vulcan taking off must have set off every car alarm in the carpark. Then, when we decided it was time to take the kids home, our car wouldn't start. Turns out that the vibrations from that mighty beast had actually triggered the impact fuel cutout on the motor.... Way to go!!
Last time I witnessed a Vulcan display, was way back in 1976 at the RIAT at Greenham...

...Common - hugely impressive, and the noise! Unbelievable that something so big, and apparently moving so slowly, could pull those maneuvers and still stay in the air - unforgettable.

...was the E.E. Lightning - singleton takeoff, with full reheat, pulled up into a vertical climb and disappearing from sight of the crowd, up into the clouds. Then the bugger would dive down from some unexpected direction and be gone past before the sound caught up! No car alarms then (security, comprised taking the rotor arm out of the distributor, so no b**t**d could drive it away!), but it sure made the furry dice rock (LOL)!

I managed to get a few pics of the beast at Kemble a few weeks back but the grey weather kinda knackered the photography a bit, never mind I thought, at least there is Yeovilton on the 11th! Sounds like that's down the crapper as well!
I'll still be going, got my ticket weeks ago, but that's not the point. I've been waiting years for the tin triangle to get airborne again, even donated a few quid to help them along (won't be doing that again). Going u/s I can uderstand, but knackered because of paperwork, sheesh!

The Sea Vixen display is a spirited one to say the least. Very theatrical wing folding beforehand, followed by a very noisy take off (nice!) then lots of fast passes, tight turns and down and dirty photo opportunities, just make sure your camera has nice fresh batteries in it!
Good to see some FAA fast and heavy metal in the air, now if they could only get a Bucc of the ground...
