I'm referring to the Hasegawa 1/48 scale Draken which I am thinking of buying. I would assume that as with most all Hasegawa kits no weapons will be included. Hasegawa wants to sell you one of their weapon set kits but do they even have whats needed?

AIM-4s

January 29 2012, 11:54 PM

Hi:

Drakens generally had AIM-4 Falcons on them. The Hasegawa air-to-air missile set has them. Having said that, I really wish that Hasegawa could have thrown a couple of missiles in the kit.

Cheers,

Scott

J35F used Falcon and AIM-9B/P

January 30 2012, 12:37 AM

both can be found in Hasegawa weapon set but these are crude.
For the AIM-9B I strongly suggest the Eduard resin ones.
For the Falcon I strongly suggest those by Maestro Models.
Also note: the most common missiles used by the Drakens both in Sweden and in Finland was the bigger Super Falcon, here the only way to go is TRU DETAIL.
As you said there are no weapons in the Hasegawa kit.
You may need up to 4 missiles if you didn't use the fuel tanks, 2 missiles if you add the tanks.
Asymmetrical configurations were quite common with 1 Falcon and 1 Super Falcon under each wing.
Finally note that J35J had 2 additional pylons and in that case up to 6 missiles could be used.
Hope this helps.
Paolo
