Gentleman.
What is the best 1/48 scale kit of Panavia ( ? ) Tornado ?
Ground attack version preferred but pretty much any mark will do.

The general concensus is Italeri..................

...........but the Airfix kit has some need parts for the GR4 such as the Hindeberg tanks.

Hobby Boss missed the boat.

As stated above the consensus was the Italeri kit is best but get the Airfix to rob it of it's stores.

Cheers,

Italeri IS the one

March 10 2012, 4:27 PM

In fact HB lost the boat and I am afraid others manufacturers do not release theirs Tornado because HB made it before.
But made it really wrong !!
Several errors from tail to nose mainly in shape which turns HB offer to trash. (where I put my two HBs).
In my oppinion ONLY the fine recessed rivets/lines worth for HB kit, but the price...
So I am still going for the old but good Italeri one.
Good Luck

More like "which one is the least worste"

March 11 2012, 4:41 PM

As Italeri is no real winner either; though the lesser of two evilos in this case

It figures.

OK gentleman, thanks a lot.
I was hoping that Airfix kit is the same quality as their new releases. But obviously it is not as none of you recommended it.
And if the Italeri one is the best, i think i'll just put the whole idea on the back burner for now. Maybe Hasegawa will do one better soon enough.
Thanks,
Cezar.

I had the Airfix and...

March 13 2012, 1:57 AM

It is not even close to today's standarts of Airfix Lightnings, I think it is second rate to the Italeri ones.
If don't mind to scale don't forget the excellent Revell 1/32. After my disillusionment with HB Tornados I decided to build the Revell 1/32 !!
Good Luck
