I'm not sure exactly how a seed exchange should work,so suggestions are encouraged.

Hi Bob
Thanks for the new forum. You really do go up, above and beyond the call of duty!
I think individuals would post something like this in the subject line:
HAVE: Salvia coccinea 'Lady in Red' seed
or
WANT: Salvia coccinea 'Lady in Red' seed
anyone wanting that particular seed or having that seed would reply to the particular post that they are interested in.

OH I forgot, most people posting that they have seeds find it easier for those requesting seed to send a Self Addressed Stamped Bubble Envelope and then when they receive the envelope they will put the seeds in the envelope and mail it back to the person. If people are sending out seeds to lots of people, it can get expensive especially now that the postage rates have gone up again. If a person is trading seeds then one person sends the seeds in a bubble envelope and the other person uses that envelope to send their seeds back to the other person. No additional envelope is needed.
I generally include a label with my mailing address inside the envelope and the postage for the envelope with seeds to be returned to me if it is a one way trade (I am requesting seeds from someone but not trading anything in return)

Do we limit the exchanges to hummer favorites or all seeds?
Bob, thanks. Just a reminder, that there should be other links to this forum, added to the bottom of the other pages.

Hi everyone here

I am thrilled to see a seed exchange forum here! But I have some suggestions:

-Aside from mentioning the seed forum in the moving banner, I think it should be mentioned and linked fairly visible around the opening monologue on the hummingbird forum. So people will clearly see it's here.

-On this forum I think it should be explained that people should post "Wanted": or "Have" in their post title.

That's all I can think of for now.

Thanks Bob for setting this up and to Penny for all the suggestions of how to send/trade seeds.

And Andrew I think it was for suggesting the name of the forum be near the top ...and again Bob for having it made so easy to switch between the two!

I am still searching and collecting seeds ...then I have to organize the place I keep them in....then I have to find the small bubble envelopes I want for sending...but it will get easier...now where did I put that plastic organizer....or my mind for that matter...!

Seriously thanks everyone!

Patricia,

Please include any seed you have to exchange weather it be a hummer favorite or not. You can also just list seeds that you would like, even if you havn't anything to trade.
