The seeds are starting to ripen. I have a small number now, and more will be coming in the next few weeks. I love this canna, and it flowers very quickly from seed. It's not more than about 3-4 feet tall for me, including the blooming stalks, which are held close to the plant. The leaves are a bright shade of green (no hint of red), and are slender in shape, not as broad and large as most canna leaves.
The hummingbirds love them, as you can see here....
The flowers are sure pretty. If you happen to have any extras, I would love to try them. I promise to give them a good home here in sunny California. Maybe I have some seeds you would like...
I'll be happy to send some seeds to both of you. I'd like to wait maybe a couple weeks until our kitchen renovation is done and my mom's back from rehab. Things should be calming down by then and I should have more time. I should also have more seeds by then.
If you email me with your addresses, I'll know where to send them, but maybe wait a bit so it doesn't slip too far down into my email.
OK, folks. I've got a bunch of seeds collected, my mom's out of the nursing home rehab, and the kitchen is done. There's still quite a bit of work to be done, but I think I can scrounge up some time to pack up and mail some seeds.
Even though I probably already have your mailing addresses, you'd be doing me a big favor if you could email me with that info. That will save me having to do a search through old emails. So, whenever you get a chance in the next week or so, drop me an email and put "Canna patens" in the subject line so I won't miss it.
Kristin, I also rec'd the seeds you sent. Very quickly, too! I love the photo you used on the front of the package; I'll never have trouble identifying which seeds these are.
Thanks so much... I hope mine come out as pretty as the one in your photo.

First let me say congratulations on the picture of the day! That Canna really is gorgeous! I don't think I have ever seen a bicolored Canna like that.

Yes, Dan, I still have some--not tons, but enough to share 15-20 seeds with you. That should be plenty to produce several plants. I haven't checked my email in hours, but if you haven't already emailed me, please do so and include your mailing address. Or do I already have it? I can't remember, but email me anyway to make it easy for me.
I collected a few more seeds from them yesterday, and they are still blooming, but I don't know how much longer with all this cold weather we've been having. No frosts yet, but it's getting close.

If you still have seeds only AFTER everyone else gets what they need, I would like to try this one. I already have seeds from my orange cannas so it isn't like I need any more cannas but the color is so unusual, I couldn't resist the temptation. Don't cut yourself or others short though, I can always wait until next year.
