Our Family's Worst Nightmare

by

My son was falsely accused of shaking his 6-month old to death. There are web sites set up to slam him. In our justice system you are suppose to be innocent until proven guilty. Not in this case. My son was guilty until he could prove his innocence. The only reason he was charged was because he was the last one with her when she had a siezure. My grand-daughter was hospitalized for 4 days when the doctors decided she was clinically brain dead. The C.P.S. had already taken custody of her and since my son was not married to her mother we had no say in anything. When she was diagnosed with "shaken baby syndrome" all other testing stopped. My son was arrested the day before his daughter's funeral and was not allowed to attend. He never got to say good-bye, he was in a solitary confinement jail cell. The doctors or authorities questioned no one from the paternal side of the family because we would all "lie for him." Even though both parents lived in the same home and he was named as her father on her birth certificate he had no rights at all or neither did this side of the family. We were treated as we were all guilty at the hospital by social workers, doctors, chaplains ( you know the person who is a person of God and is there to offer comfort and compassion?) and the authorities. I never doubted my son innocence. A mother knows her son and I know what his baby girl meant to him. Once you have been accused you are in for the fight of your life, literally! In his trial he was found not guilty and it came out that her trache tube had been dislodged and her brain was not receiving oxygen which causes the brain to swell and she was given cpr which will cause retinal hemmorages, the 2 major signs of "shaken baby syndrome". They will never take the pain and sorrow he will always feel or this family will always feel. This needs to be talked about more especially to our legislators to bring knowledge to every one that terrible injustices are happening. There a lot of stories of innocent people being convicted and sentenced to years or life in prison and I believe there are several innocent people that has been wrongly convicted on a charge of child abuse that has so much controversy surrounding it. This is a terrible injustice!!! I would like to hear from people that have been wrongly accused and/or convicted or their families, we need to support one another. If you have recently been charged or have not went to trial my best advice for you to know that you are fighting for your life, you need a GREAT attorney(sometimes you get what you pay for) and it is going to be a slow walk through pure hell for you and your family. You also need to keep in mind at this time YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS, JUST YOUR FAMILY!!!
Sincerely,
Vicki Rogers
