I was falsely accused of Child Neglect this fall, Im sure it was malicious, I fortunately hired an attorney before I contacted Depart. of human services, and when the worker came I had a non family witness and a tape recorder. I was "cleared" no services needed, I feel fortunate, I do live in an old small trailor, but its ours - and my children are spoiled! I just am really aprehensive because I have a third child due in Feb. and I know a Public health nurse will want to visit, and I want no one in my home or near my children who is with the government! I am angry because I feel the state can walk all over the poor and unfortunate and call it neglect or whatever, I have a degree in history and study politics, and am working on teacher certification, but I am also young and "appear to be poor" so Im a stereotype. Your stories really moved me, We need so much more political activism in this area, DHS, CPS, need accountability..... please contact me...
