Hi all!
I continue with the activities on friday.
After a short night I returned to the hotel to meet our guests
which just had their breakfast. Polleke, Asi and Jay checking our website:
Shortly after we started for a little walk downtown Frankfurt to make some window shopping.
Gary, Mirko and Eng checking the Panerai display at Bucherer.
I returned around noon to welcome new arrivals: Eric, Scoopster and Davie "90210" Lee together with Marc, Aurelio and me at the hotel lobby:
We had the chance to get an invitation for a factory visit at the Sinn watch company, which is located in Frankfurt, not far away from our hotel. By Taxi we reached the company building. Simone Leseberg from the Sinn marketing department kindly welcomed us together with Mr. Brauckmann, master watchmaker at Sinn (covered from Polleke at this photo).
We were walking thru many interesting production areas, where around 70 people are working.
Spotted a funny slogan... how should I translate that? I try with "hurry up, you real chicken!" Seems like watchmakers have fun at work too, hehe!
Several test instruments were introduced...
...as well as a view into the spare part drawers 8-P
We arrived at a separate room, where all engravings are done by hand
and / or by engraving machines.
Aurelio spotted a nice work on a pocket watch dial:
The lady showed our group some examples of her work: engraved rotors and individual engravings, owner's initials etc.
Another technical feature at Sinn is testing for extreme temperatures.
some UX models were put into conditions of -45 degrees.
...still working!
A big monitor for checking the movement activities:
After that interesting tour we went into the show room to see Sinn's entire collection. Davie and Lars in good mood:
The new U1000 chronograph - chunky one!
Martin from Denmark asked some more detailled questions...
...while Vanni was in macro mode
Jay got his strap fitted to his wrist by Mr. Brauckmann - that's what I call instant customer service!
Before we returned to the hotel Piero was a happy camper next to Simone Leseberg from Sinn marketing:
All of us got a very nice goodie bag. Kudos to the Sinn factory staff for this nice and very interesting tour. Surely some impressions which we will keep in good memory!
(to be continued)
Cheers,
Volker
