So according to the herald it says he just finished a tourney and will be joining the team soon. My question is he really coming or is Bob just saying that to keep us all hoping he is?
"Forward Sergei Drozd, from Minsk, Belarus, joined the team over the weekend and has participated in practice the last two days. Russian goalie Alex Pechurski, who just finished playing in the Four Nations tournament, will join the team shortly."
IMO based on the wording, it appears to me that he is coming. There is always a chance he is not but it looks good to me!
"Team Russia's best players have been Vladimir Tarasenko, Sergei Ostapchuk and Pavel Chernov among the forwards, Dmitry Orlov, Maxim Chudinov and Georgy Berdyukov among the defensemen.
Goalkeeper Alexander Pechursky (Pittsburgh Penguins) played rather well, especially in the first and third game, but he need more help from his defensemen."
I would put my money down that he shows up and that he gets the nod for starting goaltender. Im excited maybe he will push the other two to a higher level. We can only hope! Go AMS GO!
Jeez calm down. Danyluk or whatever his name is, was a lot better than Marty and as far as owsley yea he had a great game versus Spoke but he really goes up and down. He has a good games and then some terible ones. Only time will tell but i bet owsley gets the nod for the opener and hopefully we get the Russian! any new news on him?
we aren't stupid, just smarter than most. Just remember, they heard it here first! BTW, if they want to insult me, be my guest. But I get to be the first one to tell them that Otto needs 2 b inflated when I'm right.
"Good day sir, I said good day!"

I would have to say that Danyluk made an impression and the russian kid had better be the real deal. I liked Marty over Owlsey last year but I admit that they faced different oposition. Love to see Pechurski come in and continue the AMS tradition of amazing goalies.
"The 55th and 58th have been used for a couple of NHL drafted players, who arent going to report. They are Alexander Pechursky (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Anton Klementyev (New York Islanders)."
I'm pretty sure he's not coming. He can stay home and be a professional hockey player and make a salary, or he can move half way round the world and play for lunch money. I know the Penguins want him here, but what loyalty does he have to them at this point? He hasn't signed a contract for the Pens as far I know.
Owsley's played well and I'm sure Bob will still go out and get a goalie. Either as backup or starter.
It also means we have another euro spot open, we can try and fill with another goalie or maybe offensive forward.

The Americans have assigned G Joel Danyluk, 19, to the SJHLs Yorkton Terriers. Danyluk is from Yorkton. . . . The move leaves the Americans with the two goaltenders who backed up the departed Chet Pickard for all of last season Brett Martyniuk and Drew Owsley, both of whom are 18.
