To all the people that bash our own players for 60 minutes a night with never a positive thing to say. To all the people who think being a fan of this team means hurling insults at 16-20 y/o kids who are working the butts off for your entertainment. I have one question for you.
What the hell do you have to complain about? Seriously. Your team won last night 6-2. Your team has the best record in the league. Your team is ranked #4 in the entire CHL. What is your problem?
It's your right to say whatever you want but I have news for ya, you only make yourselves look stupid. Telling our two best defensemen they suck only shows your complete lack of knowledge. How can you say "who the hell's #41 and why is he just standing around like an idiot" Are you kidding me? #41 is Patrick Holland, he's the most improved player on this team over the last 20 games, he had a goal tonight and he single-handedly won the game for us Friday night with a hat trick. And here's the ignorant part; you were at the game on Friday!!! Did you not notice the hats raining down on the ice and everyone mobbing #41? #41 is Patrick Holland, buy a frigging program. Its also real classy to talk crap about Neal Prokop when A; he's played great for us this year and B; his Dad and billets are sitting 3 seats away.
To all the complainers, you need to realize that there are friends and families and billets of these players all around you. Go ahead and boo if you must but do so with a little class and feel free to mix in a positive word every once in awhile. After all, they're only the best damn team in the league. God help us if we were Prince George. What would you say then? And think about this, would you want to send your kid 1000 miles away to a different country for 8 months only to feel like they're not even appreciated by the community that is supposed to support them? Not only are these kids the best hockey players for their age in the world, but they are also great kids. How many times do you see on the news or read in the Herald that so and so from the Americans got into trouble or got arrested? Never. Now how many stories do you see about players reading to kids, going to hospitals, building houses for Habitat for Humanity? Dozens every year.
Come to the Sunday skates, come to the booster club functions, go meet a few of the players and then see if it's so easy to call them names. If you wouldn't say it to their face or to their parents face then maybe you shouldn't say it at all. And if you aren't having any fun (which is what it sounds like, since the only time you aren't complaining is when the Zamboni is out on the ice) then STAY HOME. We don't need fans like you.
Sorry for the rant...I guess I woke up grumpy too, but people in their 40's shouldn't have to be told how to behave in public.
You must sit in a bad section. I have only missed two home games this year and all I ever hear is the occasional "Mestery you suck" and some general booing at poor play. A bus load of Portland fans were there are you sure it wasn't them?
As far as the Mestery complaining there are still a few meatheads out there still on his case but the truth is as I stated before he has won over 99.9% of the fans by his play since returning. My suggestion "AGAIN" is when they jeer him stand up and CHEER HIM louder than they jeer. Dont wait until you can hide behind your computer and chastize them anonomously let em know how you feel face to face. If you like come get me and I will sit behind them for a while and go on and on about how great Eric has played since returning and make sure they hear every word I say. I am easy to find section T row 6 seat 1.
They have been told more than once now, Steve. He's not saying this anonymously. When I asked them to quit talking s**t about Neal Prokop when his dad is sitting right there, I was told to "shut the f**k up you f**king b***h." Classy. And in front of her kid no less. No barn needs those kind of fans.
I appreciate your help, Steve, but the billet that sits near us told me he took care of it. I have a feeling they will no longer be sitting there, or if they are, they won't be opening their ignorant mouths anymore. Fingers crossed...
The people in the stands that complain about the players are unhappy with themselves most of the time, so it is easier to nock someone else. If they see one of the boys make a mistake on the ice it helps their ego to mock them,I know as a billet that has met everyone of the kids they love to perform the best they can, and when they don't, it eats them up inside also. They are the best team in the WHL as the scouts have voted so lets treat them as that,a winner can play an ugly game but find a way to win, oh thats all we have done all year.Lets be happy and give them all support and go to the cup this year, we have the team to do it.
and i heard your altercation and those fans sitting right above you where complete jerks and lack any hockey knowledge. They really seem to know nothing about the game! We sit in the second row from the top in P and most people around us are great but yea those paticular fans are very rude and in a sense a joke.
I was sitting in PP last night also and I thought I heard something going on behind me towards the end of the game. The great people in front of us were high-fiving us when we scored so it's nice to know that there are still some great fans out there and I didn't hear any bad talking. I did hear someone say something about "talking shi*" and that came from about 3 or 4 rows behind us so I imagine that is what this thread is talking about. It's sad that we still have people like this in the stands who want to bad mouth these great kids. I met Toll's mom last night and she seems like a great person. She was also sitting in the general area of where this took place and I know that she probably doesn't want to be subjected to such vulgarity. I sat in section M friday night and heard some guy behind me calling Mestery a "ballerina". I had my children with me so I decided to keep a lid on my discussion with the guy. But I do have to say this. If you read these posts and think that you can do any better, they have drop in hockey on fridays at the TRAC and saturdays at rink B. Come on by and let's see how you fair buddy.
Woman behind us muttering to herself after I'm assuming another fan told her to stop making her negative comments (again): "I wasn't talking to you so shut up."
Me: "Neal Prokop's dad is sitting right over there, that's why he said it."
Her: "I wasn't talking to you either so shut the f**k up."
Me: "You're talking s**t about the kid when his dad is sitting right there."
Her: "My kid is sitting right here." (Um, okay? So?)
Me: "Yea, and no one is talking s**t about your kid."
Her: "Shut the f**k up you f**ing b***h."
My husband: "Hey, knock it off."
And there you have it. No, I probably shouldn't have used a four letter word, but my blood was boiling after countless games of nothing but negativity and rude comments. These people actually booed when Eric was receiving his defenceman of the month award.
This will be one of the first times that I have got pissed off enough to say something. I've been in this barn from day one. 22+ years. I've been in a lot of other barns to. I've been spit on, puked on, had a fight in Spokane, and broke up a few in our barn. Our barn used to have a reputation of being one of the loudest, cleanest, and classyest in the intire "Dub". We cleaned up our own. We made the loud mouths feel like they were out of place to try anything in our barn. I do remember a Boo or two, but you will in any barn.
Now, as to this crap in OUR barn....... let's clean house or we get it cleaned up! I for one have no place for this crap in a game that I came to watch. We have the pleasure of having the best team in the Dub right now! Act like it! Back 'em and show them what it feels like to have fans that no matter how they play from time to time, your still going to be there! As to those players that get the bad rap from time to time, so be it. As to the "mouths" over in that certain section, they will be talkin care of or they will leave. It was always a pleasure to talk with fans from other teams and hear them say how "Classy" that Tri-Cities are! Show some pride in yourselves and OUR team!!
Too bad that someone thinks that they hare entitled to speak that way in public to a complete stranger unprovoked at that.
If they are a season ticket holder they NEED to read their ticket book!!! They won't be season ticket holder very long if the AMS office finds out who they are. They won't tolerate that kind of abusive behavior!
If they are walk up they will be shown the door ASAP and given how bad they act they might be asked that they not return.
As far as this fans is concerned "WE DON'T NEED THEIR MONEY! I'LL GO OUT AND PERSONALLY FIND FANS TO REPLACE THEIR LOST MONEY FOR SHOWING THEM THE DOOR!"
Rock On AMS!
Back 2 Back U.S. Div. Champs! WAY TO GO AMS!!!
I am to tell everyone that the Americans management/security has been made aware of this situation and will be handling it. Thanks, everyone, for letting us vent.
