BO allows civilian trial of 9/11 conspirators

I think BO's decision to try these thugs in civilian court is a disgrace. They will now be afforded the same rights (legal-wise) as Americans. I believe they should be tried in a military court. Sensitive information will more than likely be revealed (intelligence info on how they were caught, etc.), which will end up being broadcast to Muslims worldwide. I'm afraid this will set the stage for further hatred by the terrorists of the American people. I think it's a terrible risk to the security of the American people, especially in New York City, to have these thugs there.

I saw an interview with Karl Rove last night and he was asked why these terrorists hadn't been tried in a military court prior to BO taking office, and he said that the legal issues were being tied up by lawyers (maybe the ones wanting it in a civilian court - I'm just guessing on that part.)

From the website Freedomslighthouse.com:

Fox News' Charles Krauthammer said that "the civilian trials of the 9/11 conspirators in New York will be "the second half of the terror attack." He was reacting to the decision by the Obama Administration to bring five 9/11 conspirators to New York and give them civilian trials."

"Krauthammer said the first half was the 9/11 attack where they "attacked and killed," and the second half will be the trial where they will appear at the "scene of the crime" with the "biggest forum in the world" to "explain and proclaim the ideology behind it. This is a travesty."

This is Obama's way of passing the buck to the courts.

Obama will now blame the courts for all of the information exposed and all of the events that happen. He'll simply pass off every action with a quick,"that was the court's decision, not mine". Obama wants this show to try to put a focus back on the Bush administration so as to distract people from his own failures. Our enemies may as well recall their spies. The Obama administration has figured out a way to hand over to them all they want to know:

It is difficult to quantify how dangerously foolish this course is. As they demonstrated in offering to plead guilty while bragging about their atrocities, KSM and his cohorts dont want a trial so much as they want a soapbox to press their grievances against the United States and the West. With no real defense to the charges, they will endeavor to put America on trial, pressing the court for expansive discovery of government intelligence files. Having gratuitously exposed classified information on interrogation tactics and other sensitive matters in order to pander to Obamas base, the Justice Department will be in a poor position to argue against broad disclosure, even if it were so inclined. As the court orders more and more revelations, potential intelligence sources and foreign spy services will develop even graver doubts about our capacity to keep secrets. They will reduce their intelligence cooperation accordingly, and the nation will be dramatically more vulnerable.

Moreover, the transfer of the worst al-Qaeda prisoners into the U.S. will grease the skids for many, if not most, of the remaining 200-plus Gitmo terrorists to be moved here. This will be the worst of all possible outcomes. These are trained terrorists who have been detained under the laws of war, but most of whom cannot be tried because the intelligence on them cannot be used in court. We are still holding them because they are deadly dangerous and because no other country is willing to take them off our hands. Once inside the United States, they will indisputably be within the jurisdiction of the federal courts which are staffed by judges predisposed against wartime detention without trial. As long as the terrorists were at Gitmo, those judges were reluctant to order them released into the U.S. a transfer that would violate federal law. If the terrorists are already here, though, judges will not be as gun-shy. Inevitably, some will be freed to live and plot among us.

The Obama Left delusionally argues that running these risks will make us safer. The international community will see how enlightened we are, the fable goes. The hostility of Americas enemies will melt away. Theyll lay down their bombs and stop attacking us. As observed by former attorney general Michael Mukasey who presided over terrorism cases as a federal judge "We did just that after the first World Trade Center bombing, after the plot to blow up airliners over the Pacific, and after the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. In return, we got the 9/11 attacks and the murder of nearly 3,000 innocents."

They will go free because some slick lawyer will be able to have evidence thrown out. Then the idiotic juriors will find him innocent according to the evidence. Just like O.J. Simpson when all the evidence was thrown out.

From you statement it is fair to say you are in favor of letting them go free, which is a possibility.

If the government cannot prove their case; hell yes..I say free them...or better yet; go ahead and free them now for failing to give the defendants a speedy and public trial; and then, deport the bastards. Quite frankly, if it were left up to me...I would have freed them years ago.....most cases were made against persons turned over by other governments; with little or no eye witness accounts based upon the word of another..many of whom were teenagers when detained; and whose so-called "confessions" were the product of coerced methods and torture. Most of these cases are so weak; the judges won't even allow them to reach the jury...presuming the prosecution gets beyond human rights abuses to even begin a trial...
