| Any big difference? Anything "new" we should expect? Hear that players are much more just looking out for themselves? |

Not sure I understand the question, but Minor Midget is a huge year if your kid wants to be drafted. There is a lot of me, me, me crap you'll witness no doubt. If your kid is on a team that has elite players, they will likely be showcased more so than the other kids.
I guess it all depends on your team and your coach, if he's fair now, then next year should be no different. MM is really only a big year for those players who should get drafted, for everybody else just enjoy the year, its by far the best minor hockey you'll ever see. |

Lots of crap, kids playing selfish, parent coaches manipulating stats, players getting overplayed when they shouldn't........ |

If your kid is good enough to be drafted he will. Scouts see through the parental bullshit and know that dirty politics get played.
At the end of the day, tell your kid to keep his chin up no matter what happens and give it 110% each and every night and he'll be fine.
If you have a really bad early season performance don't worry about it. Chances are you'll be in like 5-6 tournaments plus playoffs and maybe even the OHL Cup. Your kid isn't going to blow it at any single moment.
Best of luck |

Dont like posts like 11:46 taint you, its an exciting year filled with opportunity. Scouts see through any crap and will pick the best players for their team.

Some players care and some dont. Realization sets in mid-year and separates teams. |

Great answers thanks. He's a goalie, so hoping he has a good year and the team performs well in front of him. Scouts ever talk with goalie instructors or they just watch games and speak with coaches. |

Players have got to look for their best interest. OHL drafts players not teams. You can be on the best team but it doesn't automatically put you in the top rounds. Make sure your kid is ready, doing his workouts, doing well in school and giving 100 percent each times he's on the ice. That's all you can ask for. |

True enough, but a team player will get drafted ahead of a me player, with all things else equal. |

Aside from all the AAA BS about scouts and drafts which affect about 1% of the players in this age group the biggset difference I noticed as a coach is that these kids are starting to mature into adults but they still think like kids for the most part. They are easily influenced by their peers and can get into a lot of trouble if not properly supervised. Drugs and alcohol make playing X Box a lot more fun. Keep an eye on your kids and be careful about who they hang around with. |

team player is important but what the poster above meant is that OHL does not draft a team they draft the individual players on the team - that has nothing to do with being a team player. Scouts can identify team players from selfish ones very very quickly. |

It depends on what you think is selfish. You'd be surprised how many kids get drafted high and they are not much of a team player. |

11:41, I agree with you on that - it does make you wonder. Try and do that in OHL differenct story - might see the bench |
