Who are the favourite teams this season? Should be alot tighter than in the past with all the movement especially in the ETA.

In the west it should be YSE/barrie for 1st and 2nd,with Waxers close in 3rd slot.In the east it should be Petes/kingston battling for 1st with Whitby/Quinte in the 3/4 slot.

Barrie
the rest is a crap shoot between YSE NCP and Waxers
SCC and Raiders for last
so much player movement on the top teams will be an issue especially Waxers.

Any truth that JL from Central is moving to G?

Who is JL?
YSE had many pickups for the Chowder Cup
Not sure why you would not bring your winter team?
Maybe more then a touch weaker next year?

I dont know who JL is or which Central team is being referred to but I think they might mean COW.

Clarington has no top forwards, no top defensemen and no top goalies, enough said about them being a contender. Will make the playoffs but wont win a round.

2.48 Hockey is a team game, sure individual skill helps but it is not the deciding factor come minor midget,it boils down to desire, systems, execution and solid goaltending always helps.

It will be interesting to see if any other than these 2 get to the OHL Cup.

I will take that bet any day of the week since neither of the two teams you mention have been to an OMHA,s in years if ever. Lets see if your favorites know how to win a game when it really counts.

Barrie YSE in the west and Petes and Whitby in the East. Kingston may surprise if they get any type of goaltending. West is very thin with Markham and SSC falling back.

my guess is that if yse can score some goals they will be hard to beat.
they have a very good goalie tandem and best D men in the league; will be tough to score against.

ajax and clarington will surprise many in the east
kingston will compete as well if they can reduce the number of goals they are giving up.

barrie will be a hard second in the west with an improved forward lineup.

whitby will be likley finish first in the west with peterborough kingston clarington and ajax rounding out the top 5. whitby has a strong D core and no problems scoring goals either

York Simcoe will be tough to score on as always. Check the last few years on omha site and you will see the toughest teams to score on .
York Simcoe, Markham, Peterborough

Kingston needs a goalie first and thats hard to find. Kingston wont get past Peterborough or whitby or clarington this year and will battle for the last playoff spot.

Lets not forget about Quinte, there always a scrappy squad and will be in the mix, needless to say lots of parity this year in the east.

Kid did not show up to try out because he had a broken leg, exactly what point was the coach trying to make??? Plus they lost their top D to the REPS. Hamilton will be an "has been" next year, good thing they are hosting the OMHA as it likely will be their only way in...

You should wake up, there is no longer a Welland AAA centre. And the Southern Tier Admirals, well, ya right. End up fourth in the SCTA. You'll see.

Re: 96 OMHA AAA

First of all let me say I am not from Welland and not a big fan of their team or organization. However how can you say they are likely to end up 4th in the SCTA. Last year they arguably were in the top two and this year other than Stevens (penalty boy) all their top players are back plus they have Parrish (like it or not he was one of Hamilton top players) they also got a returnee back from the Marlies (again not Gretzky but as a player on one of the top team from the G, certainly should be able to compete with SCTA kids). They also picked up the only decent player from Niagara Falls plus their goalie(eventhough he is not half the goalie his dad thinks he is, certainly an improvement from what they had last year). Add all of this together and I think you will understand why I am questioning your suggestion that Welland will end up 4th in SCTA

Sorry, should have been more clear. Not disuputing the fact that NF is not a very strong team, just wondering how the TWO players, and one goalie, that left and are playing for the Southern Tier Admirals this coming season will fare come September with RB.

In all honesty, it doesn't really matter what you, or I, think. It will be up to the scouts that come from the OHL, the OHL teams and the independent recruiters for the US for NCAA. The are looking at each player individually.

Come next May, everyone may be surprised.

Actually, I agree. Welland or the southern tier admirals' biggest challenge this year, like in many other years will be "self implosion". While they do have a strong team many of the kids on this team (and their parents) are not half the players they think they are. Many of these kids are living off their past, where their size and for some their skill was above average, but now no one really stands out on this team. This being said on balance compaired to the other teams in the SCTA they do appear to have a strong team, but will they play as a team??? Also we should not disregard their hometown ref's, this alone is worth at least 20 points in the standing...and also explains why they don't fair so well when playing outside theor loop or at the SCTA/OMHA.

ETA West

Based on player movement and last year playoffs
1) Barrie
2) YSE
3a) Waxers
3b)NC

SCC
Raiders

I like the look of Barrie and Whitby to each win their division.
YSE not good enough--lack of offensive power. Will have to win many low scoring games. Peterborough tending is not consistent and fwds are not disciplined.

Above 4 teams will be the best 4 teams in the league.

Have to agree with 9:15. Small players that are excellent will still be drafted low. Anything below 5feet 8 in and lower than 160lbs will be a stretch even with Miracle Grow this summer. LOL

signed 96 LAMB, nutbar who was released this week from mental inst.
