If your kid is 16 playing Jr c or d your setting him up to fail. Major Midget kids develop better then kids playing Jr c or d. I am sure a decent major midget team could beat a Jr c or d team. Just trying to explain reality you silly parents

Let's say you're right. What about Jr. B, how does it compare?

Joe Blandisi played Midget AAA for the Vaughan Kings last year, drafted in third round of OHL draft as a 94, now on the NHL draft list.
Guess midget was ok for him and he did not need to play Jr A B or C!

Anyone putting their kid as a 16 year old in Junior C, D are just turning your kids into goons. Also it shows a lack of responsabilty on behalf of the parent because your kid could get hurt badly.

my kid has played this year in JR C as a 16 year old. It has been a good experience so far. He is learning to play against older, stronger kids/men. It may not be for everyone, but for us has been a good experience.

The answer like most questions in life is that it all depends on the particular situation. You have to take into account the type of player and what they need most in their development, as well as the team in question (coaching, philosophy, teammates etc).
I have seen players develop in midget where Jr.C would have been a terrible choice and vice versa.
I myself played Jr. C for 6 years (started at age 15) and it is very naive to say that you are setting your kid up to be a goon or get hurt or not get ice time. Many 16 years olds take a year at either Jr. C or midget and then move on to great things after. There is no black or white answer here.

The answer to that question is to send your kid to a team that he is going to get the ice and excel . You have to take into account the coach's history and some of the players on the team. Personally if your kid has a shot at getting drafted scouts attend jr. A and b, these are way better options than c and d.
