Okay, I think this story from the article is probably just a myth.
One day, Wei ( Mulan's dad) went to MuLan mountain ( there is such a place) to visit friends. A friend gave him a mulan tree seedling, and told him when the tree blossoms, prosperity and good luck will fall on Wei. So Wei took the seedling home and took very good care of it. 10 years later, a spring, a beautiful white flower blossomed on the mulan tree. Many from the village came to see it. Then Wei's wife gave birth to a cute baby girl. Wei thought of his friend's words, and named the girl MuLan Flower.
