I actually was glad that Mulan had barely any merchandise, so Disney wouldn't be selling kids on it. It would be just the movie, and that's the way it should be.
Besides, they planned it that way ever since Pocahontas, HoND, and Hercules bombed and their stuff was collecting dust on the shelves. If there weren't so much toys/books/etc, then adults wouldn't take Mulan so much as a kid's film, but as a family film that adults could see also. And it worked. (Now, after they've tested the waters with Mulan, they're probably gonna go all out with Tarzan like before. =P) | |
