Birmingham - The July chill is setting records for low temperatures across Alabama.

The National Weather Service (web | news) said at least nine cities in central Alabama had their lowest recorded temperatures ever for July 20 on Monday morning. All had overnight lows in the mid- to upper 50s. Pinson got down to 55 degrees, six degrees cooler than the previous low of 61 in 1962.

It was just as cool in the Tennessee Valley region, and overnight lows reached the mid-60s as far south as the coast.

Temperatures are supposed to remain cooler than normal for a few more days, with a warmup expected later in the week.

There once was a consensus about the Earth being flat. Not long ago there was a consensus that global warming was going to cause increased hurricane activity. How many hurricanes have you counted this year? Or last?

Come on now. This debate will go on forever, but there is no doubt that the Earth is in a cyclical pattern. Science has proved that folks. Don't be blinded. It is what it is.

Of course there's a cycle.

But you can't pump tons of co2 into the atmosphere as we have been doing, without radically speeding up that cycle.

So what percentage of the atmosphere is CO2 versus H20? Isn't CO2 about .032% our atmosphere?

Didn't get much out of it.. Just CO2 is bad and man makes it.

I think folks need to see "stuff" such as the concentrations of CO2 versus H2O and how trace gases make such a huge impact versus "scientists say it, I believe it and you should too". Even at .04% CO2 is only 1 molecule out of 2500. That little bugger has a lot of work to do.

...would anyone just discount the consensus of real scientists in favor of some yahoo saying that he just thinks this or that?

I'll stick with the vast majority of the scientific community on this one, rather than those few who are on the payroll of big business and the oil companies.

According to Einstein, common sense is just a set of prejudices ingrained before one is eighteen.

I'll take science over some joe's common sense.

The mere expression of doubt elicits anger and hostility. In other words, man made global warming is "not to be disputed, doubted or diverged from" in many circles. Believe or face the wrath.
