dear all,

the jerk that i am...i've landed myself another prob with a machine....as usual....

its a pentium 4 (i think, must be..), 128 MB RAM....originally Windows 98 SE was installed...somehow Windows ME was tried to be installed on top of this...the systems stuck up half way thru' and didn't complete installation..

I then formatted the whole hard disk and tried to install Windows 98 SE again...the installation went well but a few problems creeped up....

(1) The monitor settings shows only 2 or 16 colors...?
i went to the net and found out that this could be a problem with the graphics adapter setting problem..the gaphics adapter or some card thru which the monitor is connected to the motherboard. I went to the device manager and there the display adapter says "standard PCI Graphics adapter (VGA)"...found out that the card has got the name HOLTEK HT27C.....i tried to download the driver for this and got a file downloaded....from driverguide.com...but i don't know how to change the settings...the devive manager wizard won't accept any file for this and keeps saying "best driver already installed for this device"...SO WHAT THE HECK DO I DO????

(2) The other problem is with the net...the damn modem driver also went for a six...i downloaded the same for the Conexant RS56 Soft..something..the driver worked and the connection was setup. The problem is Outlook is working fine...

Kindly advice ....PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEe
urs truly
