I'll try to make this brief....... I updated to a new prepackaged system a while back. Compac SR 1030 NX . XP HE. Afrer a day or so, I took the C: drive from my old computer and hooked it up to the new one to retrieve some picture files get some IE favorites and what have you. The drive was removed shortly after.
Now every time I boot, it looks for the OLD network card on the OLD machine. It runs the new card too, no problem . I hit OK at the error every boot, and the machine continues to boot. There's always a network icon with the ! showing, right beside my other network icon in the taskbar. What the heck did hooking up the old drive do? I uninstall it but it comes right back.
