As for the ring, that's just as curious. It seems that you're now not having problems with layering as a rule (no fuchsia and reboots), but if there's motion, the transparency of the gif involved comes and goes. I haven't changed any code on the main page since sometime before you reinstalled Windows and IE, though. If I were in your place, I'd probably just reboot, do a scan disc, and hope that the problem goes away. I'm really pretty clueless about the wierd inner workings of Windows, assuming that's what's causing it.

How did the Windows reinstallation go, exactly? Do you have IE 5.0 on a separate CD-ROM, or is it bundled together with the Windows 98 CD-ROM? It really shouldn't matter much. I'll give it some thought, and if an idea strikes I'll get back to you.
