I have a young teenaged daughter using the internet for receiving and sending emails to people she meets in Chatroom. I have heard enough about young girls getting themselves into bad situations doing this to be scared.
Is there any way to access her emails password from the history of the computer?
No flaming, please.....I feel guilty enough, I'm just a concerned parent......TIA

you cant access her passwords thru the computer,
You are the parent right?
Just talk to your daughter about it
Maybe if you talked to her, she would be going to chat rooms?????

With a "keystroke" recording device. They usually attach between the keyboard cable and the port it plugs into. They are specifically designed to "spy" on whomever has used the computer. It will record not only her passwords but the chat conversation itself. There are a few of these devices around. Some do not record spaces between words so you have to figure that out for yourself. Of course this can be unplugged if she knows it's there, but then you know she's hiding something.

would be to sit down and talk to her about personal safety and the risks associated with giving out personal information. Discuss a set of rules she can agree on to stay safe.

That was a sincere but silly response.

Don't mean to be rude, but don't you think she would have done that already? I am a single Dad raising two Teen Daughters and no matter how much I preach it to them and trust them, it still concerns me. Those chat rooms are a breading ground for scum.
There are nice people in there too but there's no way to know if they are or not!

To the Mom with the Teen......
I know why you say you feel guilty enouph. It feels like as if you read their Diary. But Parents do what they gotta do.

You can download a free software called Starr Internet security.at:
http://www.iopus.com/download.htm

It will record all keystroaks in E-mail, and chat.
It takes screenshots and can send reports to
Your E-mail and you can run it completely stealth too.

Good luck and happy Paenting!

David

I'm sorry, but her response was not silly.

Chances are, her daughter knows more about computers thaneh/she does.
I know several teens on the internet and they are very level-headed people. If I found out someone had put a spying device on my computer I would go ballistic and never trust them again.

Would you risk that?
