Greetings from sunny Malaysia!!!
In Malay, you have 'puki' (pronounced pooky-- cute, huh? In fact , they had to censor the Garfield comic strip here everytime his teddy bear (named pooky) appeared. They just got some whiteout and so the bear is known as 'pook' here).
But, I digress... puki is the vulgar slang term, but officially, the word is 'faraj,' from the Arabic.
In the Chinese Fukienese dialect, they call pussy "chee bye". In Cantonese, it's 'hai.' The word is particularly dangerous, as it's very close to the words for 'crab' and 'shoes'. It's just a matter of intonation. So, if you are not careful, you could get into trouble in seafood restaurants!!!!
That's all i can remember right now. If any more apellations for the 'bearded clam' pop into my head, I'd share it here. :-) |
