Is Norwoods "crosslateral" move similar to Mike Austin's "Compound Pivot"?
It looks like it could be and from the descriptions I have read on how Austin instructed the move it sounds similar. I also read that Austin frequently was with Norwood at same driving range in LA so I wonder if Mike learned it from him.
Mike describes it as no rotation (along with also downplaying the ubiquitous rotate the hips instruction as causing many of problems with conventional swing). He pushes his right hip from 7:00 out to 1:00 as his feel to start the downswing.
I only ask because if it is the same, there are plenty of videos available of Mike performing this move in real-time on the Internet and it could benefit others who have found this forum and interested in Norwood swing.
Also curious why just about 99% of instruction (along with every tour pro) is all about rotating the hips as if in a barrel? Is Hogan's Five Lessons the reason for this and still the influence today?
