Your NP/LC did the right thing! She gave you an option that still met your desire to breastfeed. I think that's the missing link. Being informed about different ways to make it all work, assuming you want to. I just shared my friend's situation in the post below. She wasn't given any options.
Btw, the other thing that bugged me out about the Mayim story is that her first child...she kept him ONLY on breastmilk (no other foods) for the entire first year.
