Do you guys like the way the threads move to the top of the line if a new response is added or would you like the posts to stay put and have to scroll down to see if a new response has been added?
one advantage to having the posts move to the top is that somebody can "bump" it up if they feel it can use a fresh look but lately with more traffic on this bb I was finding it confusing which threads I was up to date on--now what I mean?? so I was second guessing my decision to have the forum pop the newest at the top.
I want to hear what you all think. (as always)

thanks for asking

My preference is "posts to stay put and have to scroll down to see if a new response has been added". I'm used to that format from the other boards. I still have a hard time adjusting to this format where it bumps up posts to the top. The Off Topics is like that too (bump up format) and I'm trying to get used to it over there too.
yeah, I have to admit

that I like it when the posts stay put.
I'd like it when they'd bump up but in my busy life with these quick looks at the BBs, I am finding it confusing (doesn't take much in my case LOL)
so, well, since you spoke up and this is my
forum (and Blythe's!!) I will set it to the usual "way".
It's harder to find posts with updates...

if they dont appear at the top. I know you were asking in specific reference to the format of the Thunderdome because the high FSH one can't be changed, but i have always found it very difficult to find updates to post when you have to weed through them to know if it's been updated. These forums are the only ones i have seen like this, most others put updated posts at the top. I always miss updates becasue of this, even when I look really hard. (This forum isn't as active, so not as much asn issue....my comments are just about the format in general) The other advantage to updated posts on the top is that if someone has a question about somethng already posted, they don't have to make a new thread, add to it, and it appears at the top again rather that starting a brand new thread so people can see it.
Just my 2 cents
I like them bumping up for this board

So I know when something was commented on and can check quickly and go if there is nothing!
Either way is fine, but I like it for this board.
me too, I like the "bump to the top" n/t

and I have the same reasons to have it as "sort order: new reply" and opposed to "sort order: descending"
which is why I debate over this.
Let's have a vote and I'll see how we all feel by the end of the week. It's easy enough to change and data doesn't get lost so no harm is done playing around with this.

Like It with the Updated Posts at the Top

It's just easier to see if something new has been added. That being said...I'm fine either way...it's just nice to have a forum like this.
I like it the way it is:) n/t.

For this board - move to the top

I like that the most current post bumps that thread up to the top.
On the other boards, with so much activity, I like the threads to stay in their original order. We actually tried the "bumping to the top" on the Over 40 board a couple of years ago and it didn't work well there, so the moderator changed it back. The disadvantage to those "stay in their order" formats is that the board can get busy and you can miss new posts to threads that scroll down quickly. For those boards, I do think that is still the best format. But NOT for this board.
This board seems suited to having the most current post jump to the top. I'd like to see it stay the way it was - bump the most current to the top.
