Response to milky way

The keys are where and when you are observing.

First, get away from the city. Large, medium, or small, your city has house lights, street lights, night lights, etc. Usually, a short drive into the country can completely isolate a person from artificial light.

Second, take your trip into the country on a clear night and a new moon (if possible).

Third, take a look in the direction of the constellation Sagitarius (okay, you may have to bring a star guide or do a little recon before you begin to ensure the constellation is visible at your latitude at your time of year).

The galactic center or nucleus can be seen as a thickening of the Milky Way band across the sky in the constellation Sagitarus.
