Response to Question

Hi James,

I have an 8 inch Celestron SCT and I get a nice view of Jupiter with my 26 mm lens. It is small, like Mark says, but clear (on good viewing nights) with the two large bands real clear and on good nights, I can see a number of smaller bands and of course, the 4 Galilean moons. Saturn is breathtaking with its rings. I can see the Cassini division very clearly. However, when I use my barlow with the 26 mm lens, things are not as clear and the viewing is not as pleasing to me. The same happens when I use my 17 mm and my 6 mm. I have a sneaking suspicion that I might need to collimate my scope and am terribly intimidated by that prospect. I have only had the scope since Christmas and am brand new to the hobby. It (astronomy) really gets ahold of you, doesn't it?

Sylvia
