88 civic flooding

by

Car runs fine until parked overnight. Upon trying to start, it turns over like the plugs were out - no compression. When I pull the plugs, they are very wet. I can spin it to blow the cylinders out, clean the plugs, and usually get it to start. Can the injector (it's dpfi btw) leak down and wash down the cylinders? Is the throttle body injector replaceable?
TIA for any advice.

Is having the engine throtte system cleaned an important maintenance on my '99 Honda Accord with 92,000 miles. I was told it needed cleaning and a price of $159 was quoted which seems high. What improvements can I expect to see if this is done and what can happen if it is not done?

Japanese used car exports

by

Japan Car Exports is a Nagoya Japan based exporter of Japanese and non-Japanese quality used cars. Since everyone at our company are native English speakers (from North American, Oz and NL), we avoid terrible communication issues that hinder the client's importing experience.

With years of experience in the automotive industry, we provide our clients with the best cars possible. We search out cars based on the client's specs and budget rather than trying to sell you a stock list of cars. What you get is what you're looking for, and nothing less.

Take a look at our site for more details, and feel free to contact us about any sort of car. We're at www.japancarexportsonline.com .

89 Integra ignitor and TDC/Crank/Cyl Sensors

by

I bought my car about 4 months ago and it was hard to start when i bought it it took about 4 or 5 cranks to start it. It eventually stalled one day and wouldnt start. I replaced the ignitor and everything was fine it ran perfect. Last week it stalled out and now when you start it it runs fine for a few minutes then the check engine lights come on and it shudders and stalls. i checked the diagnosis indicator blinks on the computer and the codes came out CRANK ANGLE AND TDC[TOP DEAD CENTER] POSITION. Does anyone have any input? Is it the ignitor again or the TDC/CRANK/CYLINDER sensors? I cant afford to hit and miss your help will be much appreciated.

91 accord won't start main relay replaced 1 year ago

by nick

Recently, my 91 accord (160,000)will not start. It will turn over and catch but then it immediately dies like it is not getting enough fuel. The tachometer was acting weird the last day that it ran OK. It was jumping around a little and then acted normal. When you turn the ignition on you can hear the fuel pump engage and a beeping sound under the dash. About a year ago a shop replaced the main relay and the distributor (and coil I think, if included). I have tested the spark plugs and have spark. I replaced the spark plugs and wires a few months ago (that time I had a some oil in the plug wells, a leaky valve cover).
Just on an off chance I got a used relay from a yard. Not the best with electronics, but I didn't think that it was the relay. After it was installed there is no difference. I tested the ignitor and it seems OK but when the resistance is tested between the tho terminals it read much higher than 0.6-0.8 ohms.
What do you think? I think I will make sure tha battery cables are fresh and connected well. Any other suggstions?

99 Honda Accord won't run in hot weather

by

I have a 1999 Honda Accord and had problems in starting it. It'll turn over and then the engine just turns off. Also when I am driving it, it will just turn off as if it ran out of gas and a couple times I have pumped the gas over and over and it fuels back up and keeps going. Any recalls on the fuel pump for the honda accord? It doesn't stall when it's cold out. Only when it's warm. The whole winter it was fine. It gave me trouble in the fall very rarely and now that it's warmer it's flaring up again. Could it be the fuel relay? It works if i wait a little or just put my foot on the gas and just throw it into drive really quick. Any comments?

Warm Weather dying

by Julie

I have found that in certain areas of the country (Ie,IA or NE) when it is warm and i use gas with Ethinol in it, my car will vapor lock. The vapor lock causes the car to just die as if out of gas. I have begun using the higher grade gas and that has solved the problem. The other option is to remove the gas cap, this prevents vapor lock, however, can cause the check engine light to come on as it effects the emissions sensors. Hope this helps!

More info

by trevor

how many miles/kms and what year?

What motor?

When was the last time you changed your oil and spark plugs?

new plugs and plug wires really helped my 220 000km 92 DX,

What does the coolant level look like? is it low? Have you ever over heated the motor? does it eat coolant, this could indicate a blown head gasket and this will make your car run really Sh*ty

Could be an O2 sensor, does the car burn oil? BE HONEST, if it does you may need an new 02 sensor. but that would only bandaid the problem, as the oil contaminates the sensor to put it shortly. You could get some carb cleaner arosol can and spray that in to the intake track right near/after the air filter (don't spray the air filter you may ruin the filter see: paper and corosive liquids) as you hold the trottle (it will want to stall) this might clean the the throttle blades and MAF etc, and possibly allow the engine to burn off residues on other sensors, (like the 02).

But generally give us more info.

Japanese Cars Export

by

I am working in a company in Japan. I would be able to export GT-R or any kind with reasonable prices. We don't hold anything in stock, that way, we would bid from auctions with clients permission.
If you are looking to buy any thing, please have a look at our site at http://www.mas-tec.com/used-car/index.shtml I am sure you will be very satisfied with us.

Regards,

86 Honda Accord with Random Miss

by

My 86 accord with 191,000 miles has a very bad miss when I shift from 3rd to 4th gear. It is almost like the engine is trying to rotate the opposite direction. But it does not happen all the time. Changed the plug wires and the fuel filters. I had a Studebaker years ago that had the clutch and the brake pedals both on the left of the steering wheel so when I first had the car, I would accidently step on the brake while trying to press on the clutch pedal. The miss is similar to that. Car idles great and runs great at 60 or 70 mph.

1999 Civic EX with winter fuel performance issues

by

This is our first winter with our new '99 Civic. During this past summer we were getting between 32 - 39mpg and really liking it. As soon as the weather turned cold the performance fell to around 26mpg. I have heard that because of the high precision nature of the Civic engines that cold weather alone can effect the performance quite a bit. (I used to drive an '82 Volvo and had no cold weather issues at all.) But could cold weather cause this much drop?

It was also suggested to me that the performance could be due to build-up in the injectors, and that again, because of the nature of the Civic engine it is especially vulnerable to this. If this is the case what is the recommended treatment. Is it enough to simply pour some injector cleaner in the tank? or is there a certain treatment/remedy that is best for the Civic in these conditions?

1991 integra

by

My car will crank over but not start when there is dampness or a cool day (spring or fall) in the air takes about 10 tries to get it going. Almost acts if it aou of gas. Will have an easier time starting after engine has been running and then turned off.

This helped me...

Get the main relay out, resolder it, put it back in. It's a known problem with Civic's.

Main Relay

by Ray

I have an Acura Integra with the same problem. I resoldered the relay and the problem went away. On my car the relay is tucked away behind the dasboard just below the steering column. You have to lay on your back with your feet by the pedals to see it. Mine had a browm plastic cover and was about 2-1/2 x 1 inch.
You do not need to remove the screws to get it out. Instead gently flex the cover back at each end and the relay and board will slide out.

94 Honda Accord Idle Issue

by moab

My 94 Accord LX (4 cyl.) is idling low and as a result the car experiences increased vibration. This problem is significantly compounded when I turn on the AC to the point that the car stahls out. I am on a shoestring budget, any suggestions?

Thanks

Low idle

by GFORCE

I had the same problem with my 92 Honda Accord. I got some combustion engine cleaner and spraded it into the engine and fixed the problem for a little while.
