I am thinking about getting a sandwich dial model, such as 000 or 176.
Are there any other no date and no seconds models?
Is there an automatic model with base sandwich dial?
Owners of 000 and 176, please share your opinions on SS vs Titanium.
Thank you.
Hopefully the board can help you source something that might suit you. From my knowledge there are a few current historic base models, these are:
000 - Panerai Logo Base, it isn't a sandwich dial and comes with the OP logo on the dial, very nice, as are all the clean Panerai's.
112 - Stainless Steel Historic Base, another lovely looking clean dial, this time with sandwich.
114 - Stainless Steel Historic Base, this time with a white dial, the dial is painted and looks great for it.
176 - Titanium Historic Base, as you mention, it's nice and exactly like the 112 except titanium casing instead of SS.
219 - Stainless Steel Historic Destro, this is a 'destro' model, which means it goes on the right wrist for left handed people so the crown is on the other side.
This is about as many as are currently produced i think, there are others, but they're out of production now but can be found secondhand in places like sales corner if you like them. Hope you find something that suits your needs.
As for automatics with sandwich dials, the best you'll get is a 312 now, it's the new 3 day auto in-house movement, it looks pretty nice as well, but is slightly more expensive than the luminors, i think it comes in about $6500-7000 or in that ballpark.
