Long Road Info (in short)

Sorry everyone, had some personal stuff I had to attend to yesterday or this would have been posted. It's a summary of the info that will appear on The Smoke Out XIII link from The Horse website under The Long Road section. Camping and motel info will appear on the official posting. Any roads mentioned here on the official posting and on the map at registration are only routes myself and a few others may take and are not mandatory. Routes will be determined by the riders themselves. Roads have not been pre-scouted for conditions and are taken at riders own risk. Most are two lane highways and are taken from an atlas. Some have been ridden by riders in the past and WERE good "at the time".

Saturday June 16th - Huntingdon (Bruceton)Tennessee - Boondocks Saloon - Long Road Kick Off party! sign in 7-9PM and concert. Poker run organized by local group starts at @11AM Saturday morning. Camping,entertainment and motels are available for riders arriving early on Friday night.

Sunday June 17th - leave Huntingdon TN. Ride north through Land Between The Lakes, then northeast to the historic Old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown KY (@275 miles). Sign in will be 7-9PM. Hang out and meet the riders. Actual event is Monday morning with a ride and tour of 1-6 distilleries on The Bourbon Trail.

Monday June 18th - Bourbon Trail tour. Then, leave tour area and ride to Huntington WV (@200 miles). Sign in will be at Fox Fire KOA from 7-9PM. Hang out at the campground fire. Shorter distance is to allow for the tour between distilleries.

Tuesday June 19th - Leave Huntington WV and head to Elkins WV. Shortest distance is @200 miles, so extend your ride on a more scenic route. Elkins was the only real large town with motels around without having to travel through mountainous roads south at the end of your day(hazards of deer and twisties at dusk!) and to provide beautiful ride south on Wednesday. Sign in is 7-9PM at Revelle's River Resort (camp by the river!).

Wednesday June 20th - Leave Elkins WV. Travel south and west to north eastern Tennessee for a pig roast! Over half the distance can be ridden on US219 (again, route some of us may take-not mandatory for anyone). Exact pig roast location will be given out at sign in in Huntingdon TN at start. Approx. 283 miles to pig roast on route some of us have planned on taking.

Thursday June 21st - Leave the pig roast and head to The Smoke Out! shortest route is @ 220 miles. Some of us may pass through Salisbury and stop for a bite and refreshments for nostalgic purposes. Get to campground at Rockingham drag strip Thursday so we can pick some prime spots for camping(maybe even stay together as a group!).
